Darien, Georgia: Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation

Visitors to the
Hofwyl-Broadfield are transported back to the mid-Nineteenth Century when rice plantations dominated the region. Here, visitors will get a close-up, first hand view of an historic working plantation, complete with its original furnishings, and surrounded by freshwater marshes and dikes that supported five generations.
Located just 5 minutes from Darien, Georgia, in the Altamaha River delta, the plantation comprises over 1200 acres. Three trails through farm pasture, ancient live oaks, long-leaf pine and maritime forest accommodate bird watchers along the Colonial Coast Birding Trail. In fact, more than 144 species of birds have been identified on the property.
