The McIntosh County - City of Darien Joint Solid Waste Management Plan was approved by the Darien City Council on September 16, 2008.

In 1993, McIntosh County and the City of Darien adopted their first Ten-Year Solid Waste Management Plan. This Solid Waste Management Plan is an update to that plan, focusing on revised population and employment projections to the year 2025. This plan will cover the ten-year period from 2007-2018, and revisions to the developed short-term work program will be made as needed.
