The City of Darien Invites Public to an Independence Day Flag-Raising Ceremony on Saturday, July 4th

June 24, 2009, Darien, GA: The City of Darien invites the public to an Independence Day flag-raising ceremony on Saturday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m. in front of the City Hall, 106 Washington Street in Darien.

The flag that will be raised was first flown over U.S. Military Camp Cedar II in An Nasiriyah, Iraq in honor of the City of Darien. It will fly on Independence Day as a tribute to the brave men and women who have kept our nation free for the last 233 years; and to remember those that are still deployed overseas serving our nation and preserving liberty.

Veterans are encouraged to wear their headgear and military decorations; and the public is asked to wear red, white and blue colors to help celebrate America’s Birthday.

For Questions of Interviews: Frank Feild, City of Darien, GA (912) 437-6686.
