CITY OF DARIEN
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The City of Darien has been awarded a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grant by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs as part of a regional application involving 4 counties and 3 municipalities. Darien’s portion of this NSP grant is $43,240. These funds must be used to benefit low, moderate, and medium income persons.
The activities for which these funds may be used are in the area of housing rehabilitation / re-construction, down payment assistance and/or new housing development, and acquisition/relocation assistance and the acquisition of REO or foreclosed upon properties located in McIntosh County. More specific details regarding eligible activities, plans to assist displaced persons (if any) and the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities to benefit low, moderate, and medium income persons, and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing which will be held at the Darien City Hall, 106 Washington Street, Darien, GA 31305, on April 16, 2009 at 5:00 PM.
The purpose of this hearing will be to discuss the approved activities of the grant award; the estimated amount to be used for the activities that will benefit low, moderate and middle income persons; the City’s plans for minimizing displacement of persons as a result of NSP funded activities; and to assist persons actually displaced as a result of such activities.
